What does organic clothing mean?
According to the Organic Trade Association, organic refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic and harmful pesticides and fertilizers.
Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment, without the use of toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. It is free from toxins and chemicals during the production process (chlorine bleach, heavy metal dyes and petroleum based pigments and ink), all of which may cause a range of illnesses ranging from asthma to cancer.

Organic farming methods can help address these problems.
