Shoe Shopping at Charles & Keith Sale

Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.Marilyn Monroe

A girl can never have too many shoes. Only a handful of men would understand this. Luckily, my hubby never complained, but he does ask how many pairs of feet do I have. Haha!
So when I saw the ‘SALE’ sign at Charles & Keith in Mid Valley last week, I had to check it out. The collections with discount were very tempting but I’m quite picky with shoes. My feet tend to easily tire and be painful with certain styles. With years of shoe-shopping experience, I already know what styles my feet are comfortable with.

charles_keith_shoes_sand_gray_pink_heels

Charles & Keith shoes at RM79.90 (NP: RM165.90)

The first pair I picked was this lovely sand-gray open-toe shoes with ankle strap. What caught my eyes were the hot pink heels. Those heels give this pair a posh flair versus if it were the same color as the rest. Well, I wouldn’t have bought it if it didn’t have those pink heels.

charles_keith_open_toe_high_heels

charles_keith_shoes_back_pink_heels

I don’t normally go for ankle straps because it is too time-consuming to put on and take off. I change into at least 2 pairs of shoes everyday: 1 flat pair for walking from the car to the office, and 1 high-heel pair inside the office. It’s just more comfortable to wear flats while walking at the parking lot, it’s ready for running if there’s danger, and it makes my official working shoes last longer. So if I were to use ankle strap shoes, it has to be an easy-to-wear type, like this pair of Charles & Keith shoes. Although it has the illusion of belt-type strap, it’s actually just a slot-in.

Charles & Keith shoes at RM79.90 (NP: RM159.90)

I also got this black pair of closed toe with sling-back strap. I have weird, choosy feet. I cannot really wear completely closed leather shoes, unless it’s flat and soft. My toes tend to get painful and sore. It has to be either open-toe or closed-toe but with exposed heel.

charles_keith_black_shoes_sling_back_strap
This fine black pair has very nice buckle strap that adds finesse to the solid color of the shoe. The brown grain details of the heels add texture and style. My recent purchases were mostly wedge heels so I wanted to try using slimmer heels again. And this one is really sexy.
charles_keith_black_sexy_shoes_sling_back_strap

Charles & Keith is definitely the brand of shoes that I have most of. When I went to JPO (Johor Premium Outlets) a few months ago, I also grabbed this cute pair of flats. Yes, we all love high, tall shoes but we also need a good pair of flats to calm our tired feet and legs down after hours with high heels.
charles_keith_shoes_jpo_premium_outlets_shoe_sale

If I remember it right, I got this pair for RM55 at JPO

charles_keith_shoes_sale_shopping_jpo_premium_outlets

This pair has a very nice buckle detail on the toe box featuring the Charles & Keith brand name.

I do buy other brands, too, but these Charles & Keith pairs are just worth the article: lovely details, worthy prices and long-lasting quality. Happy shoe shopping, ladies!

Fashion Shopping at Duriana Sale Event

Isn’t it a great idea to have a marketplace where you can sell pre-loved items?
duriana_fashion_sale_shopping_event_vanity_project

Duriana successfully held its first fashion-focused Market in the Skies yesterday at the rooftop of La Scala Restaurant. Thanks to Duriana for inviting me (including my naughty son) to check out this sale event.

duriana_fashion_sale_shopping_event_clothes_accessories

There were a lot of things to check out. Each vendor had a booth or tent where they displayed different types of merchandise ranging from dresses, shorts, skirts, pants, blouses, shoes and accessories to beauty products and cookies! Exciting collection and fashion items, indeed! And the best part of it, prices even start as low as RM6 for an item. Can you believe that?

I didn’t have much time to go around as my son kept nagging me to go to KLCC (well, he saw the twin towers on our way to La Scala and I also promised him that I’ll take him there). We had some juices from the bar then walked around Duriana’s sale event.

I want to thank the gorgeous lady of HMEHGERDwho sweetly gave this pumpkin deco item to my son. She noticed that my son was nagging me for it even when I told him that it’s not for sale. Thank you, gorgeous lady. Sorry, I missed your name.

Thanks to HMEHGERD for this pumpkin item

HMEHGERD was selling a lot of beautiful items, and I liked this ultra shiny pouch (is it a pouch, mini purse, phone wallet? Whatever, haha). It was available in 3 colors and I asked my son to pick; he chose the red one. Did I say that it was only RM19?

More booths were selling very nice accessories at low, low price of RM10. Look at all these!

Mad Treats was selling cookies while allowing you to try them first. My son was a bit shy but I knew he was eyeing the cookies so I bought a pack of “Chris Breezy” for only RM6.

Check out this adorable box by The Kooky Project. I thought it was for pizza because it was displayed together with Mad Treats cookies but upon asking, I discovered that this was actually for clothes. Creative huh? With this box, your dresses won’t be overly crumpled vs a bag!

My son’s pick for the shopping day – Blue Bird lotion at RM22 from FH Club

My son did the shopping for me. He picked this blue bird with lotion inside. His target was the cute blue bird container.
I’m sure the other guests had a good time checking out the Duriana fashion sale event. There are pretty things to buy at very low prices.
duriana_fashion_sale_shopping_event_la_scala_rooftop

I think it’s a clever idea to have this kind of social market place. A lot of women, like me, love to shop and sometimes we end up not actually using them and it’s such a waste. Why not sell them instead of letting these things get old? Check out Duriana online and learn how you can make money from your pre-loved stuff! Or if you don’t want to sell anything, check out what pre-loved items you can buy online via Duriana!

Lego Shop and Model Display in Bangsar Village

At this age, I am still fascinated by Lego bricks. And I’m happy to see that my son shares the same adoration for these tiny pieces of genius.

lego_toys_for_kids_shop_model_display_bangsar_village

LEGO Shop now open at Lot 29, 2nd Floor, Bangsar Village II

Last weekend, my-in-laws, my husband, my son and I went strolling around Bangsar Village for a fun Sunday. We don’t regularly come to this area, my husband’s place of business is mainly at The Curve so my son and I would sometimes join him on a Saturday afternoon. So I was surprised to learn that a Lego shop is now open in Bangsar Village.
What grabbed my son’s attention from outside the mall was the huge poster or ad wrapping the exterior of the bridge connecting Bangsar Village I and II. Expectedly, my son kept asking to see Lego while we were looking for a parking space. And so we walked to Bangsar Village II, guess what we saw at Level 1?
A display wonderland of Lego city models!

There’s a city model display called LEGO friends where you’ll see beautiful structures for girls.

The LEGO day for my son won’t be complete if he doesn’t see the shop. We went to the 2nd floor to find the newly opened LEGO shop, here with several old and young shoppers. It was shining brightly and twinkling in the eyes of my naughty son.

The LEGO shop has a lot of themed merchandise such as Legends of Chima, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and stuff for girls (sorry, I was paying more attention to boys stuff). You can even find LEGO figures of Iron Man, Spiderman, Darth Vader and more.
Well, my feeling was right that LEGO is not just for kids. I’m sure that artists, designers and art lovers would agree with me that these models are very tempting to buy: the LEGO Architecture models. Look, it even has the Empire State building model.

The guests experienced premium service from David as he personally filled wine glasses with white, rosé and red wines fresh from Wine Talk’s exclusive wine collection. The event was closed to Wine Talk’s Wine Club members and friends. During that afternoon, the members did not just enjoy wines but were also treated to delicious canapés and finger food from Bricks and Barrels.

What made that afternoon even more fun and exciting for the members was the lucky draw where David gave away bottles of wine, crystal decanters, crystal wine glasses and a grand prize of Pascal Jolivet magnum size wine bottle! (FYI, a magnum size wine bottle is equivalent to 2 x standard size 750ml wine bottle)

Eskayvie Launches Supplements for Beauty, Health & Mind

Taking care of our health and mind is just as important as maintaining our skin. What steps are we doing in our daily lives to maintain youthful beauty, good health and sharp mind?

eskayvie_health_beauty_supplements_antiaging
I’m a fan of supplements and health drinks. I believe that maintaining our health is not as simple as eating good food. I’m surprised when I meet or encounter people who completely dismiss or disagree with the need of our body for additional nutrients from supplements, like my stubborn husband, haha!
With our lifestyle nowadays as compared to how people live, eat and sleep decades back, it’s not a surprise to me when doctors, dermatologists, nutritionists and other health experts reiterate the importance of taking supplements. Long time ago, people need to travel or walk the distance to find something or meet someone, as opposed to simply typing a message via WhatsApp or conducting a video meeting online for important discussions. When doing research, I remember that I spent hours, days and weeks to read, write and analyze data and reports, as opposed to typing the words in Google or buying ready reports online. When I was younger, smoking was probably limited to fathers or those of legal age. But now, smokers are everywhere and non-smokers might as well smoke too because of the exposure. In short, the way we live decades back is so different from today. We do a lot of physical and mental activities that aid in making us fit and sharp. We have cleaner air and less damaging UV rays. I honestly believe that we need to exert extra efforts to take care of our physical and psychological well-being now.

Together with fellow beauty bloggers of The Butterfly Project Malaysia and Tammy Lim, I excitedly attended the introduction of supplements that will aid and enrich our health, mind and beauty. CEO Dr Syid Ayob Syid Mustafa Al-Qudri who has over 15 years of experience in alternative medicine research formulates the effective products of Eskayvie.

Eskayvie CEO Dr Syid Ayob Syid

Dr Syid gave the most wonderful and “easy-to-digest” scientific presentation of how their 2 amazing products, Eskayvie Redianze and Eskayvie i-Qids, enrich our health, our brain and our skin. Redianze is a convenient, powder beauty drink mix in fruit flavor that comes in sachets. It contains powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals in the body while also providing collagen that we need. I-Qids functions as a brain booster supplement that can be taken both by kids and adults. Like Redianze, i-Qids is a powder drink mix but comes in a delicious chocolate flavor.
(I’ll be sharing more about these 2 products after I’ve completed my review period.)

It was a fun and meaningful event for fellow butterflies and me. We learned a lot of scientific information about health and beauty in general from Dr Syid. I was really impressed at how the doctor was able to explain and share his knowledge in a very engaging manner where all of us were ‘all ears’. There wasn’t a dull moment while listening to the doctor. Most important was that we had a good understanding of why he formulated these products and what makes these beneficial to us and our loved ones.
I am now powering up my beauty regimen with Eskayvie Redianze while I am giving my 4-year-old naughty son the benefits of i-Qids. I am looking forward to more radiant skin and better health. As for my son, I hope he’ll get even more eager to learn his maths and languages.

Egyptian Magic Cream – Why do celebrities and models love this?

There must be a good reason why this cream seems to be the rave of a lot of Hollywood celebrities and models…but I have to try it for myself
egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare

Is it really possible for 1 cream to solve concerns on the body, face, lips, eyes and hair? I’ve heard of all-purpose cream for making salads and desert, or all-purpose flour for pancakes but an all-purpose skin cream? Hmmm, this is new to me.
My first question was, why “Egyptian”? I checked the jar, it is not made in Egypt; it’s actually made in the USA. The answer lies in the rich, influential history of the Egyptians when it comes to body care and skin care. The Egyptians are probably the most abundant in ancient practices for beauty and cosmetics. As early as the time of the pyramids or even before that, the ancient Egyptians used soaps that contain olive oil for their cleansing rituals. They also used honey to moisturize their skin and protect it from the arid climate. The scorching heat of the sun and windswept sands caused a lot of skin problems and infections for them so the Egyptians put very high importance to skincare regimen. And men even rubbed oils on their hair to fight baldness and promote hair growth!

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare

There is no doubt that the rituals of ancient Egyptians still apply as reliable science for skincare today. The use of certain oils and honey are very beneficial to the skin and even hair. Isn’t it amazing how the ancient tradition still is a relevant practice at this age and time?

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare

6 Natural yet Powerful Ingredients inside Egyptian Magic Cream

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare
And so I opened my Natta Cosme box containing a carefully-bubble-wrapped Egyptian Magic Cream. The box itself is filled with paper shredding to absorb impact and protect the product from shock. It also contained tip cards indicating how to use the cream and more information.

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare
natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare
natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare

I excitedly unwrapped and unsealed my new Egyptian Magic Cream, looking forward to know what the celebrities are raving about. The cream itself reminds me of petroleum jelly, but the Magic Cream is more solid and not very sticky like the former. The color is of light yellow wax, without fragrance or scent. It just smells of clean, fresh oil.

How do you use it?
Step 1 – Scoop out the balm
Step 2 – Gently rub the balm on your palm
Step 3 – Apply on desired area
Just to show you how the product looks like (I didn’t rub on my palm), I scooped a small amount onto the back of my hand here. At first, the product itself seems very solid but once it gets in contact with the heat of your fingers, it will melt naturally.

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_on_hand
natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare
Upon rubbing it onto the skin, here you can see that my hand has a film of moisture. The Egyptian Magic Cream is a great solution to those with dry, chapped hands. I’m the type of person who constantly needs hand cream, especially after washing my hands or the dishes or any activity that involves getting my hands wet. My hands easily get dry but applying this magic cream on my hands at night before going to sleep does magic!

Of course I gotta try it on my legs, too! Since it claims that it can be used on the body, I have to test it. I also tend to have dry skin on my legs and it can get very itchy and uncomfortable. But applying EMC on my legs calms down the discomfort and moisturizes my skin well. If you apply it during the day in this tropical weather, it might feel a bit oily so I use it at night before I sleep. We use air conditioner in our room so I really need to apply body lotion to bed. And the Egyptian Magic Cream does a great job in keeping my legs (and arms) hydrated through the night.

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_dry_legs_body

I also apply it on my son’s feet before he sleeps and it makes his feet even more kissable!

You can try applying it on your face, too. The Egyptian Magic Cream provides an instant hydration and gives the skin a healthy glow. Here I applied it on my face right after washing. No toner, no serums, no moisturizer. Just the magic cream. Make sure you just apply a thin film.

natta_cosme_egyptian_magic_cream_for_beauty_skincare

Left: Right after washing, no skincare
RIGHT: With Egyptian Magic Cream on bare face

I didn’t need much convincing to understand why celebrities and models love this product. It’s really amazing, I discovered 8 great benefits from the Egyptian Magic Cream:
  1. It’s multi-purpose! You can apply it on
  2. a.     Eye area
    b.     Lips
    c.      Neck
    d.     Arms
    e.     Legs
    f.      Hands
    g.     Feet
    h.     Hair
    i.   Face
  3. It contains all-natural healing ingredients. Olive oil + honey + royal jelly + beeswax + bee pollen + propolis in 1 balm.
  4. It’s a great moisturizer, making it a powerful anti-aging balm that works on several areas of the body and face.
  5. It can be used on children, too!
  6. It’s a travel companion. Since you can use it on almost everywhere on the body and you can use it on your kids, it’s simply convenient to bring the Egyptian Magic Cream with you.
  7. If you love to go swimming, it’s a great after-sun lotion to soothe the skin and sunburns.
  8. It simply works it magic. You’ll wake up to hydrated skin in the morning.
  9. It gives dry hair an instant shine.
Some tips:
  • If you plan to use on different parts of the body, you might want to separate the balm into few containers, probably a small jar for eye area, a mini jar for the lips, a jar for face, a jar for hair use, and a jar for body.
  • For optimized results, dab appropriate amount on the area and follow with gentle massage to allow the balm to be absorbed faster into your skin.
So who are some of the celebrities who swear by the benefits of the Egyptian Magic Cream?

World Cup 2014: Tips for Using ATMs and Avoiding Credit Card Cloning

Are you traveling to Brazil for the World Cup? Kaspersky Lab shares some tips to avoid ‘card mishaps’ while overseas
world_cup_brazil_2014_colorful_poster

If you’ve purchased a ticket to Brazil for the World Cup or even for a holiday, this is definitely something that you should be aware of. Besides, even if you have no immediate plans to go there, most of these tips are applicable even in Malaysia or other countries. After all, better safe than sorry!

If you still haven’t decided how you plan to pay your bills while you’re in Brazil – cash or credit card – it is high time to do so. Kaspersky Lab warns that Brazil has some of the most creative and active criminals specializing in credit card cloning. And, unfortunately, they love to target foreigners who don’t know how to protect their cards when withdrawing money from an ATM or paying for their drinks in a restaurant. But our experts have some useful tips to protect against the most common attacks on ATMs and point of sales (PoS) devices in Brazil.

Avoiding credit card cloning
PoS devices are very common in Brazil – according tothe Brazilian Central Bank, credit and debit cards account for 70% of all payments in the country. Chip-and-PIN cards are accepted by almost all businesses, even by cab drivers.
  • Tips: despite some recent newsabout security flaws in this protocol, chip-and-PIN cards are still more secure and harder to clone than magnetic swipe cards. If you don’t already have this type of card, ask your bank if it’s possible to get one before you travel.

In Europe and North America, many people are in the habit of handing over their cards to staff in restaurants and stores. In Brazil, this can be dangerous.
  • Tips: please don’t do this – you’re presenting fraudsters with a golden opportunity to clone the card, and the temptation is inevitably too strong to resist. Ask the staff to bring the electronic payment terminal to you.

  • Be careful of chance encounters or accidents which might take your card out of reach for a moment. If it happens, check that the card you get back is really yours. If you have any doubts, report it immediately to the bank.

PoS and PIN-pad malware
So-called Chupa Cabra malware and Trojan-Spy.Win32.SPSniffer, a malware family with several variants developed in Brazil and seen in the wild since 2010, affects PoS and PIN-pad devices, both of which are very common in the country. These devices are connected to a computer via a USB or serial port to communicate with electronic funds transfer (EFT) software. The Trojan infects the computer and sniffs the data transmitted through these ports.
The PIN is encrypted as soon as it is entered, most commonly using triple DES encryption. But Track 1 data (credit card number, expiration date, service code and CVV) and the public chip data aren’t encrypted in the hardware of old and outdated devices. These are sent in plain text to the PC via USB or serial ports. Capturing this data is enough to clone a credit card.
·       Please keep a close eye on your credit card statement to check all transactions and inform your bank immediately if you see something suspicious.
·       Wherever possible try to pay using a wireless PoSdevice – they are a bit more secure than the older ones connected to serial or USB ports.
Using ATMs in Brazil
Brazil has 118 ATMs per 100,000 adults according to the World Bank, placing it ninth in the world in terms of ATM numbers. This presents lots of opportunities for fraudsters to install skimmers, also known as “Chupa Cabra” devices.
·       Tips: use your hand to cover the keypad while you enter your PIN, it is a great way to foil most skimmers, which tend to rely on hidden cameras.
·       If you see something that doesn’t look right, notify the bank or owner of the machine, and go somewhere else to withdraw your cash.

“Be cautious while using ATMs or paying with your credit card. Don’t forget that cybercriminals in Brazil perform their malicious schemes all the time. Even during the day you can see them hanging out, wearing flip-flops and beachwear while installing skimmers in a crowded bank. Also remember that it’s far more secure if your transactions happen right in front of you. Be careful of chance encounters or accidents, which might take your card out of reach for a moment. If that happens, check that the card you get back is really yours. If you have any doubts, immediately report the incident to the bank,” said Fabio Assolini, Senior Security Researcher with Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research & Analysis Team.

So to everyone, whether you’re going to Brazil or anywhere, be cautious of how you use your ATM and credit cards. Happy shopping!

Kiehl’s Fun in the Sun with The Butterfly Project

I’m terrified of the sun, kinda like in a vampire way, but to celebrate a fun day with fellow beauty bloggers with this brand, I think I will conquer my fear…

summer_splash_water_beach_toys

I just celebrated my XXth birthday today! I can’t believe I’m a year older. Although I’m happy and thankful with all the blessings I have in my life, I can’t deny that my skin now needs even more extra care as I age. Do you know that your skin tends to hold or retain less moisture as you get older? Do you know that environmental factors like the sun and the air can contribute to skin moisture loss? And the less moisture your skin has, there’s higher risk of premature aging? (agh, panic!)
kiehls_ultra_facial_oil_free_gel_cream

Why do I need 24-hour no-shine fresh hydration?
Every woman needs continuous hydration throughout the day and everyday. I work in an air-conditioned office, that’s five days x 8 hours where my skin’s moisture can decline continuously. I tend to have oily combination skin so I don’t really like thick, oily moisturizers. I need a moisturizer that ensures hydration WITHOUT giving me shiny areas on the face as the day wears on.
What do I love about Kiehl’s?
I first fell in love with Kiehl’s when I tried the Blue Herbal skincare range several years back. It worked really good in addressing my pimples and acne blemishes. Kiehl’s has been around for more than a hundred years and continues to make revolutionary and scientific cosmetics. Kiehl’s is also very committed in creating better lives for the society. I have respect for this brand because of their clinical approach, and their passion and commitment to what they do.

I’m excited to learn that The Butterfly Project has a campaign this month in association with Kiehl’s! Wouldn’t it be nice to have a fun morning with fellow beauty bloggers who love Kiehl’s while sipping ice cool drinks and trying out the new Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream?
I want to join The Butterfly Project team this weekend to celebrate Fun in the Sun with Kiehl’s! I hope I’m not too old for it…and I’m sure we don’t need to wear 2-piece beach outfits to feel the fun of summer!
