Beautiful Nail Polish and Makeup Collection at Inglot

I still remember the first time I was captivated by an Inglot shop. It was at Sunway Pyramid in 2011. That was the first time I saw the brand and I didn’t even know how the name was supposed to be pronounced. Is it ‘eeeng-lot’? Is it ‘eeeng-lohw’? Is it ‘eeeng-laht’? Well, it’s pronounced ‘eeeng-lot’. Inglot cosmetics was founded by Polish cosmetics maker Wojciech Inglot, who unfortunately died at the age of 57 in February this year.

There’s something about Inglot boutiques that just captures attention. First, the shop design is simple yet it really makes colors stand out and pop to your eyes. The fixtures are in shiny, solid black against cream white walls and floors, making colors sparkle against it. The graphics also use solid black background that also makes colors gleam deliciously everywhere in the store. Creative and effective graphic and interior design is undeniably a great tandem for this brand.

The first Inglot item I bought was a 2-piece eye shadow palette. I was so fascinated with the Freedom System that allows you to pick and mix the colors you want in your set. It’s such an enlightening thrill to pick the colors you like and create your own eye shadow set. Aren’t you tired of having those eye shadow palettes in your vanity kit and end up having 1 or 2 colors that you barely use? Inglot’s freedom system totally eliminates that waste of money. With their vast range of colors, it’s easy for anyone to pick colors based on their preferences. You can choose 1, 2, 4, 5 squares in whatever color you want. Look at these delicious colors!

The Freedom system is also applicable for blushes, lip color and pressed powder. This is great for both makeup artists and those who simply love makeup.
A few days ago, I wanted to buy a new nail polish color and while walking along the brightly lit hallway of Mid Valley Megamall, which is still my favorite shopping mall since I arrived in Malaysia, Inglot once again caught my eye. And who wouldn’t be caught by this luscious display of nail color?

The nail color collection is beautifully displayed in such a way that you can see all the colors popping in one glance. No need to rotate the fixture, no need to stand close and look down. Gorgeous and effective display that makes me want to grab them all and have a wall display in my own room like this.

Inglot nail polishes contain no toluene, no formaldehyde, no DBP (dibutyl phthalate), no camphor. A poster on top of the nail display announces O2M Revolutionary Breathable Formula, which is totally new to me. The sales assistant explained that this type of nail polish allows oxygen and moisture pass through! Mr. Wojciech Inglot developed this product to improve nail health. According to reports, the O2M nail polish has become very popular among Muslims because of its porous properties that make it acceptable to wear even during prayers. Inglot has recently announced that their product is ‘Halal certified’.
Among all the eye-popping colors, I picked this one in red-pink shade. I know its tempting to grab several polishes but this is my first time to try Inglot nail enamel so I have to do some test drive before I ‘indulge’.

I was also looking for a glamorous red matte lipstick and this vast display was very irresistible. Like the nail color display, the lip color collection display also allows you to see all the shades in one glance. To help you in choosing, there are also square swatches of colors in acrylic placed in front of each shade.

My Inglot visit to Mid Valley Megamall ended up with these 2 items in my beauty loot…

Gifts Made Easy – L’Occitane Gift Sets

October is here! Yeah, I’m kinda 15 days late to announce that. This is the time of the year when I miss my home country. In Philippines, all shopping malls will be beaming with Christmas decorations by this month. Christmas songs will be playing in the radio, TV shows will be starting with Christmas themes, offices will be planning for celebrations and, best of all, shopping season will be in the air! To satisfy my craving for this season of gifts, I’ve decided to start posting about gift items and share gift ideas.

Personally, I enjoy receiving bath and body products in a set. But what makes it even more special is presentation. The way gifts are presented can make the actual gifts look more expensive or cheaper than their true value. It’s not that your gift should look expensive but paying attention to presentation sends a message that you took the time and effort to make it special to a friend or loved one. This is why I appreciate brands that provide extra service and care with their gift sets.

For this first round of gift sets, I’ve chosen to share a Cherry Blossom set from L’Occitane. I chose a Cherry Blossom set of body lotion and shower gel. When I told the sales staff that it’s a gift, she carefully arranged it in a gift box. That’s great service. The box is very reflective of the brand – calming, peaceful, nature-inspired.

L’Occitane Gift Box

I loved the pink paper with a clever, simple touch of the brand stamp sticker.

The products were neatly tucked under the pink paper. I’d be happy to receive something like this and I do hope my friend did enjoy this set.

L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Shower Gel and Body Lotion

What’s even greater after buying several items from L’Occitane that day was receiving this lovely set of miniature fragrances. This box contained 4 different scents: Jasmin & Bergamote, Magnolia & Mure, Vanille & Narcisse, The Vert & Bigarade. All in 7.5ml each. I liked the Jasmin & Bergamote.

And so my hunt for great gift sets has officially started. If you are thinking of giving a bath & body set to anyone, do check out L’Occitane gift sets. They also have selections for men which can be wonderful gifts for those guys who do care about their body and skin.

Enjoy giving gifts to your loved ones!

Want to be posh & taller without the pain? You’ll love this Charles & Keith Wedge!

Wearing high-heeled shoes can be very challenging and painful especially if you have to endure it for long hours. But for the sake of looking stylish and chic at work or when attending events, we, ladies, bear the ever-tiring and quite painful experience of wearing those sexy stilettos.

The good thing with fashion is that it has been evolving to be functional than just simply chic. I’ve been a big fan of wedges or platforms for the past few years, more so because I had to find a painless way of walking taller than wearing fancy high heels. And wedges nowadays have become so fashionable and have definitely become part of making a statement. Admittedly, I would have preferred to wear flats if we just talk about ultimate comfort but the desire to be more stylish and to walk tall at work is just inevitable.

So I’m just delighted to share my latest favorite pair of wedges from Charles & Keith.  This is an open-toe, slingback style with combined textures of faux snake skin and velvet. I love the 4-inch high platform and it’s not tiring or painful at all. I’ve worn it for a week at work and I just love my height with it. Well, I’m 5’4″ but an additional 4-inch height wouldn’t hurt, right?

Charles & Keith wedges/platform, open-toe, slingback shoes

Of course, I wouldn’t recommend this to ladies who’d need to stand for hours continuously. But it’s simply perfect to wear for an event and a better option than high heels if you’re the type who feels the pain and discomfort with the latter.

Charles & Keith has a lovely collection of wedges and platforms in different styles and colors. I personally prefer slingback and open-toe wedges as the grip on my feet is better with the sling than normal closed shoes. Open-toe shoes are perfect for showing a glimpse of those polished toenails.

Open-toe shoes are perfect for showing polished toenails

So if you ever need a pair of stylish shoes without the pain, go for wedges or platforms. You’d have the extra inches you want and still be as posh as you can be. Walk tall, be chic and smile!

Dior Addict Vibrant Color Spectacular Shine

I’m not a collector of different colors of lipsticks like a lot of women, ladies or girls. I’d normally buy one or 2 colors that I like, which often fall within the nude or pink range, and it will probably be my lip color for the entire year. I know, I know. Not very adventurous but I think it’s because I focus more on my eye makeup rather than the lips.

The Dior Addict lipstick range is such a captivating collection that I was enticed to use the shopping voucher I earned from Sogo on a lip color. Admittedly, the word ‘addict’ caught me and the packaging is simply chic. Come on, who wouldn’t be captivated by these eye candies?

Dior Addict Lipstick Collection (image by Dior Addict)

The box comes in classy silver and the item itself has silver silver accents with an embossed ‘Dior’ on the outer body. Chic, chic, chic.

I’m not that daring yet to wear red, red lipstick so I picked something which is a few shades away from deep red. Color code 682, Gibraltar.

Dior Addict Lipstick in Gibraltar (682)

The top part has the initials ‘CD’ which I find perfect because it’s  same as mine! It’s just like having my own brand of lipstick.

CD initials on Dior Addict lipstick

I also like the way it stands nicely like it’s a bottle or something else. The square base makes it stable to be placed upright on the vanity table while putting makeup.

Dior Addict Vibrant Color Spectacular Shine

I’m just loving the texture and effect of this color on my makeup. It also hydrates my lips so I can actually skip my lip balm during the day. Dior Addict has sparked an interest for me to collect different lip shades from now on! It truly is iconic and addicting.

Estēe Lauder Advanced Night Repair – Change your Skin every Night

This is one of those very rare instances that I’d have to say that advertising convinced me to purchase a beauty product. I’m the type who would normally go around the beauty shop, try items here and there then only make the decision to buy. But for once, after seeing ads continuously, reading good reviews online, I decided to finally give this popular product a shot.

A few years back when I was working for a company located along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, I walk around Sogo department store from Mondays to Fridays during lunchtime. It’s actually quite nice to shop at Sogo because they have practically everything that I look for: baby clothes, baby shoes, milk powder, office clothes, shoes, cosmetics, stationeries and more. Sogo probably has the widest baby and kids section in 1 floor within Kuala Lumpur.

And so one Saturday afternoon, I went shopping again at Sogo KL. I excitedly visited the Estee Lauder counter and checked out the available gift sets. What did I want to get? The Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II and a night cream for my mother-in-law. I’ve been seeing ads of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair for years. So when aging seemed to catch up with my skin (fine lines, uneven skin tone, noticeable pores, dull appearance, roughness), I knew I had to crank up my skincare regimen with a powerful anti-aging serum. And what do you know; those 2-page spreads on magazines caught me. I also did some research online from customers/ bloggers who have tried the product and, yes, I’m convinced.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

I’ve been using the product for 3 weeks now and I’m very happy with the improvement on my skin. It’s true that I wake up to better skin every morning. The most evident change I’ve felt was the ease of makeup application on a smoother skin. I used to apply several layers of cosmetics on my face before going to work but now I can get away with skipping one or two when I’m in a hurry. I even apply thinner liquid foundation because of more even skin tone.

I guess one of the great things with this product is that I only need to apply it in the evening and yet I get wonderful benefits. Like what the brand says, this is ‘The power to change your skin – every night!” I only use between 2-3 drops all over my face, using my middle and ring fingers, and I’m sure this 50ml will last for more than 3 months.

The power to change your skin — every night!

The science behind this popular product is based on 2 discoveries: 1) purification and, 2) Lack of Sleep Accelerates the Look of Aging.

What the brand says:

Estee Lauder scientists were among the first to understand a critical nighttime cellular repair, Catabolysis, and determined that this natural purification process peaks in cells at night and is pivotal to skin’s natural repair. This led our scientists to develop a breakthrough technology, ChronoluxCBTM.

Skin renewal expert Estee Lauder collaborated with sleep experts from Case Western Reserve University, a world-renowned centre of excellence in dermatological research. The result was lack of sleep not only causes visible signs of aging but also affects skin’s natural repair processes. The study showed that, for the first time, that lack of sleep can accelerate visible signs of skin aging.

Poor quality of sleep is associated with:

  • Acceleration of fine lines
  • Increased vulnerability to dryness and dehydration
  • Uneven skin tone

With Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, say good night to:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Tired looking skin
  • Loss of elasticity
  • Rough, dry skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Dullness

And say good morning to:

  • Firmness and elasticity
  • Youthful-looking skin
  • Translucent radiance
  • Even skin toneHydrated skin
  • Fine softness
  • Suppleness

I am guilty of not having sufficient sleep almost daily. I sleep past midnight and get up at 6:15am. Not easy to sleep early when your child sleeps late. But with the product claims of this Estee Lauder product, I am hopefully on my way to continuously improving skin.

I also got the Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Vita-Mineral Intense Nourishing Crème for my mother-in-law. I truly believe that everyone should recharge their evening skincare regimen since this is the time when our skin rejuvenates itself.

Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Creme

Estee Lauder was selling the Advanced Night Repair Serum and Nutritious Night Crème in a set that comes with free 4 minis. So here’s all that I got that day:

Estee Lauder ANR and Nutritious Night Creme with 4 free minis

These are the 4 minis in the set – 30ml Nutritious Foam Cleanser, 30ml Nutritious Energy Lotion, 15ml Nutritious Day Cream and 5ml Advanced Night Repair Eye.  Great value gifts with the set!

Estee Lauder minis

My beauty loot:

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair – RM350 for 50ml

Estee Lauder Nutritious Night Crème – RM240 for 50ml

FREE items – 4 minis as mentioned above

RM50 cosmetic voucher from Sogo (valid for Sogo card members – RM10 for every RM100 spent at the Beauty Hall)

Yes, I got a RM50 voucher from this loot. I’ll share a short blog later on about how I wisely spent this RM50 Sogo voucher!

Fashion Icon Designer Outlet Unveils ZERO is Not a Size

I’ve always enjoyed watching fashion shows. I still remember my younger years of working for a global lingerie brand where I was screening models, preparing for fashion shows, dressing up models, running up and down…oh, it was such a thrill. There’s this certain of nervousness about how the show will turn out, what the guests will think of it, what the bosses will say, will somebody trip, are the models perfect enough and all. So much of hard work is involved in a fashion show yet it only takes less than an hour (or even half an hour) for it to get judged, scrutinized or praised. This is why I have high respect for teams who organize fashion shows because I know it’s damn hard.

I had the opportunity to witness a fashion show worthy of recognition and support. Nestled in an exclusive haven at Persiaran Hampshire, Fashion Icon Designer Outlet held a fashion show themed “Zero is Not a Size” on 28th September 2013. Zero is Not a Size was held in support of Women’s Aid Organization (WAO) to highlight women’s health issues and encourage a positive body image mindset to women for the enhancement of self confidence regardless of body size and shape.

Fashion Icon fashion show

Fashion Icon believes that the joy in style and fashion should be enjoyed by everyone regardless of size, shape and color. “A perfect body and a perfect shape is not everything,” as confidently said by Ms. Regine Wong, Fashion Icon Designer Outlet General Manager. Honestly, I am one of those women who are very much bothered by their size. As I’ve mentioned in several of my stories, my post-pregnancy size is somehow stuck and I’ve been trying so hard to get rid of those unsightly tummy fats. Not that I’m less confident but my size is somehow holding me back to explore more fashionable styles in the way I dress. I salute Fashion Icon and WAO for making this event an education about confidence no matter what size.

Guests and customers were entertained by live vocal performances by lovely singers Ezza Afiqa, Ida Mariana and Joy Victor. They were fashionable and chic, not to mention cool and friendly as I managed to snap a few shots with them…

WAO had a Shop for Good Cause display that sells T-Shirts featuring a work of art by a Malaysian artist at only RM45. The shirt is quite cool, showcasing an art that feels like an actual painting on shirt. I grabbed a black one in LARGE size (!) and I had to remind myself that not fitting on a medium size anymore shouldn’t make me feel bad.

Malaysian Women’s Weekly Style Workshop at M&S Suria KLCC (part 2)

The Malaysian Women’s Weekly team invited the Style Workshop guests to some refreshments served by Marks & Spencer just right in front of their food hall. We were all treated to delicious bread, tea, jam and more from M&S.

And so I went snooping around the Marks & Spencer’s bigger and better outlet at Suria KLCC, Concourse Level. To make it easier for us to spot style picks, the MWW team cleverly placed yellow cards on hangers of their selected clothes.

The new M&S outlet is filled with very stylish collection for casual wear, office wear and more. There are wide selection of colors — from classic yet elegant hues to daring and trendy ones. I loved the group display of different colors and looks in every corner on mannequins which presented combination of clothes and styles that make it easy for shoppers to get fashion ideas. Just look at these gorgeous displays…

So where did I spend most of my time (and my shopping money) that day? (Drum roll…)

At the lingerie section!

During the mini-fashion show by the MWW team, some guests were concerned about how to look great in clothes if they have flabby tummy or excess mid-part fats (ok, it’s kinda difficult to word it nicely). Aside from the great tips from MWW, the M&S team also suggested using tummy control intimate wear to have that instant sculpted tummy!

There were different kinds of Magicwear inside the lingerie section. You can find full corset, full panty, boy leg cut and more. I picked this black waist cincher which has a very light and soft material. You can immediately tell that it will be comfortable to wear.

Take a closer look at what the front label says:

Secrets Slimming

Magicwear

No VPL (no visible panty lines)

Waist cincher

Smooths & sculpts waist & tummy

Lifts bum

Look slimmer in seconds!

With COOL COMFORT technology

FIRM control (just what I need)

88% of our test wearers saw an immediate reduction in measurements

And the back label:

COOL COMFORT keeps you cool all day (so this is not the typical corset material that makes you feel hot)

What is Magicwear technology? Side seam free, zoned control to shape your silhouette

Flattens tummy and shapes waist

Integrated sling for bottom lift

Interesting enough, right? I knew I gotta have one! My mummy fats seem to be stuck on my hips and tummy so this is just a great item to have in my wardrobe. I haven’t tested it yet but I’m having an important evening soon and this instant solution to my tummy will be my best friend! To my fellow hot mummies/ chicks who just can’t get rid of those tummy flabs, check out this Magicwear Waist Cincher.

Malaysian Women’s Weekly Style Workshop at M&S Suria KLCC (part 1)

Yes, I admit it, I’m not really fashion-savvy and with the additional weight I’ve gained post-pregnancy, I’ve become very reserved when it comes to choosing clothes or experimenting with different looks. Sigh, if only I can shed extra 15 kilos off by working so hard…

So when I heard about Malaysian Women’s Weekly Style Workshop, I knew I have to check it out. Would I miss this chance to meet and greet MWW Editor, Elaine Kwong, and Fashion Editor, Sabrina Salehuddin? And, of course, I also wanted to see the new Marks & Spencer outlet at Suria KLCC.

The BabyFootAddict with Malaysian Women’s Weekly’s Sabrina Salehuddin (left) and Elaine Kwong (right)

Fresh and feeling great on a Saturday morning, I was in front of M&S by 10am. The facade of the store is warm and welcoming.

Marks & Spencer at Suria KLCC, Concourse Level

The lovely morning started with greetings and introduction from Elaine. They will share 6 different looks with gorgeous models wearing Marks & Spencer items.

MWW Editor, Elaine Kwong

The pretty Ms Sabrina sporting a sweet smile before the model parade of styles…

STYLED LOOK #1:

First up was model Olga, wearing ox-blood-color skirt, white blouse, fitted blazer and black ankle boots.

I like this look because it’s something that I can see myself wearing on a normal working day. It’s sleek, stylish yet corporate. It’s even something I can wear to a business presentation with potential partners or board of directors. I’m just not sure if I can get away with this cutting of skirt as I have mummy-tummy and mummy-hips to hide.

STYLED LOOK #2:

Second look was with model Chloe, wearing printed dress with multi-color patterns in elbow-length sleeves and a pair of peep-toe black ankle boots.

I find this dress nice to wear for a normal office day, and as suggested by MWW team, can be thrown over with a jacket to make it more suitable for the office. Not recommendable for someone with my body shape, though, as my mummy tummy will surely pop out. But Elaine gave a tip of looking for a dress like this with folds at the right places to hide tummy fats.

STYLED LOOK #3:

Olga walked up in a lovely style of white-collared blouse, black cropped pants red jacket, black high-heeled shoes while carrying a small blue purse.

I’d say this is my favorite look. I loved the flair of this red color jacket over black-and-white attire. If I were to flaunt this style, I’d be wearing a pair of peep-toe, sling-back shoes as I really get uncomfortable with closed shoes especially pointed, high heels. But overall, this is such a lovely style and I’d be shopping one of these days to get this look!

STYLED LOOK #4:

Chloe came back wearing a cute, long-sleeved big shirt with Panda face, over full-length black leggings, animal print boots and a big bag.

This one’s for that casual, chic look and will look good for those with slim, long legs. Sabrina also showed other possible combinations such as this grayish, jeweled blouse.

I think this is lovely and I just wish I still have my old legs when I was only 49kg! If I were to wear this look, I’d be using a longer blouse to hide my oversized-hips and butt then glam it up with gold or silver open-toe wedges.

STYLED LOOK #5: Olga wore an animal print, one-piece fitted dress, gold necklace and black, closed, high-heel shoes while carrying a small, long-strapped purse.

This can be good for office wear but, personally, I’m not a big fan of animal print on dresses. I’d be alright with small splashes or accents of animal print but not on a whole piece. But this will still be great for ladies who love animal print even those who are not as slim as a model like Olga or Chloe. Of course, for those with bigger frame, I think that a small purse like this will not work well as it can accentuate your body size against the purse. I’d go for a mid-size or bigger-sized bag.

STYLED LOOK #6:

Last look from Chloe was a 2-piece ensemble of a printed white blouse and a printed black skirt. Shoes were peep-toe ankle boots.

I’m not used to seeing printed blouse and skirt with different patterns but this one is quite chic. I don’t think I can get away with the length of this skirt, though, so if I were to try a print-on-print look, it will probably be a pair of cropped pants.

Here are more looks from Malaysian Women’s Weekly Style Workshop on mannequins:

This workshop made me think about experimenting more with my fashion style despite the mummy tummy. Great tips and styles from Elaine Kwong and Sabrina Salehuddin! Thanks to MWW and M&S!

Okay, I’ve blabbed too much! I have to split this story into 2 and share more about what I did at Marks & Spencer after the Style Workshop: snooping and taking photos around the vast clothing collections, discovery of an instant solution to my bulging tummy and what I bought that day!
