My son catches flu or colds every now and then; I guess most kids do. Before my son started going to school, it wasn’t that bad. My son would cry at night because he feels so uneasy and finds it difficult to sleep. What I do before was to make him sleep on his side while I rub his back to ease him until he falls asleep. But he would wake up again in the middle of sleep because of breathing difficulty. Although I try to clean his nose and remove the mucus, sometimes those things get really hard and stiff. When this happens, it becomes painful for him when I try to remove it.

How to Use Pureen Clinzo
  • Tilt the head to one side;
  • Gently insert the end of the nasal tip into the upper nostril;
  • Exert a short, sharp pressure;
  • Tilt the head to the other side and repeat the procedure in the other nostril;

  • Wipe away any excess with a tissue or blow the nose;

My son is very fussy and doesn’t really allow me to insert the tip into his nose to spray. What I do is to spray the water onto a cotton bud that I then use to clean his nose. Using Pureen Clinzo is a lot more effective than just using water to wet the cotton bud. And with Clinzo, I’m also sure that the water is clean and sterilized.

The first Kate item that I bought a few years back was black liquid eyeliner. I loved the texture, the applicator and the resistance to my oily eyelids. Of course, my love for cosmetics drives me to regularly explore other brands when the need arises and I can say that Kate is one of the good ones I’ve had. A few months ago, I was looking for an eyeshadow palette with diamond luster for those days when I want to have luminous eye effect. I decided to try it and also bought the black liquid eyeliner that I liked.

The colors are easy to apply, with good texture that is easy to blend. The first 4 colors create the most lustrous effect while the fifth dark color, serves as the smokey eye effect color.

I don’t normally use the standard applicator that comes with the eyeshadow palette. I prefer to use eyeshadow brush. But I’m sure gals can use this effectively with the applicator; some of you may even choose to use fingertips! Well, I’m not good at that, though…I’d stick to my brushes.
So this is how my (left) eye looks with Kate Colorcious Diamond Eyeshadow. I also use the 3rd color – shiny medium color, which is a bit bluish, under my eyes to add highlight and shine.

If you prefer to have very dark effect as I do, the dark color might not be enough with dry application. You can opt to add a drop of an eyeshadow intensifier (like DuWop Color Payoff) or use pencil eyeliner to darken the corners (here I used Maybelline eye studio black eyeliner). 
This Kate eyeshadow is a good palette to have if you like creating lustrous eye effect. The shimmer from the colors can easily make the eyes look brighter and radiant, especially when you have dark, puffy, stressed eyes.
Good to have those bright, luminous eyes!

Fight Blackheads with Neutrogena Deep Clean

How do you solve your blackhead woes and how do you prevent them from coming back?

Having pores that are ‘not normal in size’ can be really challenging. Pores like mine tend to get clogged and invite dirt, forming more whiteheads or blackheads. My regimen through the years involved proper cleansing and trying to ensure that I use the right cleansers to address this concern about blackheads.
Although there are a lot of good cleansers out there, it pays to use a specific one that is targeted to fight those nasty little things. While doing my regular visit a few months ago at a leading pharmacy, I stumbled upon this product from Neutrogena, which caught my eye because of its name that twinkled magically to my attention (ching ching ching). Blackhead eliminating, eh? Gotta try that.

This product comes in a half-transparent plastic tube. The flip-top cap makes it convenient, and the opening has a sticker seal for quality protection. You have to twist the cap open to remove this.

The scrub itself is a shiny, white fluid with orange micro beads. It just smells clean and nice, no extra fragrance there.

I love using this on my face. During the day, I normally use a different cleanser then in the evening, I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub after Cleansing Lotion. My face feels great and really ‘deeply cleaned’ with this scrub.

What difference did it make on my pores?
When I started using this, my regimen already included weekly cleansing with pore strip, which has reduced the amount and size of whiteheads and blackheads that I strip off every week. With the addition of Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub, I noticed that I barely have blackheads on my pore strip, and it definitely prevented formation of more blackheads. Well, I’ve finished my other brand of shampoo and conditioner so I hunted for a new one a few weeks ago. I’ve heard about the launch of the New Naturals by Watsons Argan Oil and got curious about these products. Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner at these affordable prices?
  
What is argan oil anyway?
Argan oil is extracted from the nut of the fruit of the Argan tree, which is only found in the beautiful country of Morocco. The amazing Argan tree lives to be about 150-200 years old but the fruit is only produced when the tree is about 30 to 50 years old. That’s a long time to wait! Because the argan tree is only found in a limited area, the argan oil is rare. This ingredient is gaining popularity very fast due to its various benefits for the skin, hair and body. One of the brands with Argan Oil that I’ve heard of is Josie Maran, which is exclusively available at Sephora. I haven’t tried it yet but let’s see how Watsons Argan Oil fares first.

The Naturals by Watsons Argan Oil shampoo is in a gel-like texture with white translucent color that glimmers under the light. One of my concerns before with sulfate-free shampoo is that it has very little foam so I tend to use more of it on my hair. But, hey, wait a minute. This one produces enough foam nicely!

The pump makes it easy to dispense shampoo and it just dispenses the right amount, too. Since I have long hair, I probably press the pump 4-6 times. The scent is also pleasant but it does remind me of cola drink, which is nice and sweet; I like it.  
The Naturals by Watsons Argan Oil conditioner is also gel-like with creamier white color than the shampoo. The bottle of the conditioner is exactly the same as the shampoo so it also has the same quality of pump to dispense the product. I find the pump user-friendly and convenient for ‘mummies in a hurry’ like me.

The minor downside to this type of identical packaging is that some people might mistake one for the other. The labels are of the exact design and color with only the words ‘shampoo’ and ‘conditioner’ as difference. If you’re buying these in a hurry off the shelf, you might accidentally purchase 2 of the same items. Guess we just need to remind ourselves to read carefully.
The conditioner glides smoothly on the hair and although it has a gel texture, it surprisingly adheres well to the hair, not watery at all. The scent is similar to the shampoo, reminding me again of cola drink (feel free to disagree with me if you’ve tried this, haha).
So are these hair products good?
Oh, yes! With very affordable price, these Naturals by Watsons hair products are a great addition to your hair care regimen if you have dry and damaged hair like mine. My hair is well moisturized with these argan oil – based shampoo and conditioner. I just rebonded my hair last week and it’s important to use products that repair damage and strengthen the hair. Yay for Argan Oil hair care from Watsons!

I am very cautious of being exposed to the sun. My colleagues and friends would sometimes tease me of being a ‘candle princess’ or someone who would melt under the sun. But my experience as a brand manager for skincare products, which also included sunblock brands, has given me sufficient knowledge of how the sun’s UV rays can damage the skin in various ways. It’s actually not the darkening that I’m concerned of but premature aging that can lead to wrinkles and other conditions, uneven pigmentation and, worst of all, the possibility of developing skin cancer.
Applying sunblock is part of my daily routine, right before I apply makeup. As such, it is important that I use a product that does not leave a white film because this will mess up how my foundation color turns out. The problem with a lot of sunblock products is that ‘white film’ and the sticky, heavy feel that it leaves on the skin.
I tried the Neutrogena® Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50+ PA+++. The name “ultra sheer dry-touch” makes it catchy. I find this a good choice because it indicates that it can be used for face and body. What some of us might forget when applying sunblock is including our arms. Remember that while driving or riding in a car, our arms get exposed to sunlight through the car windows. Don’t be surprised but some UV rays can penetrate glass.

Every morning after clear lotion or essence, massage evenly over face, neck and arms, apply 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. When going swimming or activities with long exposure to sunlight, apply the sunblock on your body including the legs and re-apply frequently to maintain protection.
